COME AND CELEBRATE WORLD INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY ON SUNDAY 28TH APRIL 2024,

Introduced in 1982 by the International Dance Council (CID, Conseil International de la Danse), a UNESCO partner NGO, and is celebrated yearly, on April 29. The main purpose of Dance Day events is to attract the attention of the wider public to the art of dance.

As such we are pleased to offer a truly international dance programme featuring a variety of different dance classes and dance styles. No experience, no problem as each introductory dance class is for the complete beginner and all for Gold coin entry (per class).

Meet new people, make new friends, learn something new, try something outside your comfort zone.

THE DAY STARTS AT:

Studio 1

1PM - GREEK DANCING: Learn dances from different parts of Greece (no partner required)

2-2:45PM - EAST COAST SWING/ROCK'N'ROLL: This dance style originated in the 1950's (partners are not required as we will rotate). This is a couples dance.

2:45-3:30pm - SAMBA: From the International Latin family of dances, known as the party dance (partners are not required as we will rotate). This is a couples dance.

3:30-4:15pm - TANGO: A recognised ballroom dance, this cultural but universal dance will inspire you to put your feet one infront of the other (partners are not required as we will rotate). This is a couples dance.

4:15-5:00pm - LINDY HOP: The grandfather of all Swing dances and born in the 1920s, this class will have you cutting the rug with classic swing outs and Charleston's (partners are not required as we will rotate). This is a couples dance.

5-5:45pm - WEST COAST SWING: This fun slot dance originated in the 1930's in the West Coast of USA. This dance survived every decade, it moved through the times and developed along with the changes in music (partners are not required as we will rotate). This is a couples dance.

2:30-3:15 AMERICAN SMOOTH WALTZ

Learn the elegance of American Smooth in the waltz as you glide around the floor. This is a partner dance (Partners not required as we will rotate.)


4:00-4:45 AMERICAN RHYTHM RUMBA

Learn the Box Rumba, the slow dance from the family of Cuban dances. This is a partner dance (Partners not required as we will rotate.)


4:45-5:30 MERENGUE

Come and try the walking dance of the Dominican Republic. Fun and easy! This is a partner dance (Partners not required as we will rotate.)
