Tango

By Pre-Registration Only. No admission at the door otherwise.

I'm pleased to announce that we are bringing Liz Haight and her assistant Emma Simmons from Santa Fe New Mexico, February 7-9 for a series of classes meant to introduce and enhance our understanding of Milonguero Style Close Embrace Tango as Liz teaches it (see her biographical information at the bottom of this page for more information).

We will take a deep dive into her teaching concepts, philosophy of tango, and tango techniques for use in our everyday dance. Regardless of your preferred style and your existing tango vocabulary, her teachings are accessible with ease and grace.

Plan to attend the complete, roll balanced, five class sequence. Classes are not available individually since the material presented in each class builds on the material presented in previous classes. It's preferred but not necessary to sign up with a partner. Cost of the workshop is $180 per person.

Anyone who has studied with Liz or who is an experienced close-embrace dancer is welcome to attend.

Liz BIO:
Liz had been teaching Milonguero Style tango for over 20 years and is one of the original founders of the Encuentro network in North America. Her work comes from a lineage of Milonguero style dancers (including her teachers, Ricardo Vidort and Alicia Pons), who have understood the dance as primarily an energetic, emotional, and sensorial experience. From years of this study, Liz's work focuses on the internal play of energy withing a grounded, deep comfortable, embrace. The giving and receiving of energy is understood as the vehicle for movement, and the medium used for connection, communication and musical expression. The intention of this intense study time will be to explore and develop this medium, one that is deeply personal, natural, and unique to each of us. In this way, we hope to provide the opportunity to further your own authentic dance.

Liz will also be available for private classes. Contact Steve Smith for more information.
