🔺INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS
▪️Olympiad of Kizomba - Winner of TARRAXO 2023
Jah J’ah (West Indies background) is from Paris and has a globally recognised Tarraxo certification; he has been immersed in and taught several dance styles including Bachata, Brazilian Zouk, Afro/DanceHall.
Jah is currently travelling the world to teach his signature Kiz Fusion and Tarraxo
▪️ Jeisy Bastos is Jah Jah’s UrbanKiz/Tarraxo dance partner (Brazil/Portugese background) and they have travelled together to teach at international Kiz festivals. Growing up in Switzerland - her dance styles also began with Bachata & Brazilian Zouk. Together, they embody the heart and soul of Caribbean dance, adding play, rhythm & Creole flavour to their unique style of UrbanKiz Fusion and Tarraxo.
▪️ DJ Selva is the most sought-after Afro-Latin DJ in Asia, loved by dancers and artistes not only for his signature smooth style of mixing but also the flow of his sets. With over 12 years of international experience, he will be adding to and creating the party vibes.

MASTERCLASS DESCRIPTION

*What is a border?*

It’s an imaginary line, where something stops and something else begins. In the context of dance, there are many of these boundaries: the elements of music or a song, the Leader and Follower, the transition of once dance to another, or one song to another, or one dance style and another. They are all separate, but connected in a meaningful way.

*What can we do to change how information is shared across borders? *How can opposite sides of a border inspire and influence each other?

In this workshop we will draw on elements of Kiz fusion, Tarraxo, and other dance styles to help attendees cultivate their own creative abilities to a new level. They will learn how to transition across different boundaries with grace and respect, in a way that is both tasteful and fluid.

We will explore many things: how can we transition our style, both between songs and within a song? How can we communicate our different interpretation of the same piece of music to each other ? How do I take concepts from one dance style and apply it to another ? How do I build my dance vocabulary between styles so it becomes expansive, and my dance is inspirational to others, but I ensure what and how I express is still respectful of its roots?

This is a workshop to elevate your personal capacity for creativity and your musical interpretation , so you can fully embrace the Art of Dance without borders.
